Introduction
What AXEPTA 40MG is used for?
- AXEPTA 40MG is used to treat Attention-Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Warning & Precautions
Talk to your doctor before you take this medicine, if you:
- Are allergic to AXEPTA 40MG or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
- Have an eye disease called narrow-angle glaucoma (increased pressure in your eye)
- Have serious problems with your heart or blood vessels
- Have a tumor of your adrenal gland (pheochromocytoma)
- Have low blood pressure
- Have liver problem
- Have psychotic symptoms including hallucinations, believing things that are not true or being suspicious, mania, agitation, mood swings
- Have aggressive feelings, unfriendly and angry (hostility) feelings
- Have or ever had seizures
Pregnancy & Breast Feeding
- If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or planning to have baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking AXEPTA 40MG
Children & Adolescents
- AXEPTA 40MG is not recommended in children and Adolescents
Driving & Using Machines
- AXEPTA 40MG can make you feel drowsy and it sometimes makes people fall asleep very suddenly without warning
- If you could be affected, do not drive or operate machines
Interactions
Tell your doctor if you are taking,
- Medicines that increase blood pressure or used to control blood pressure, or used to control rhythm of the heart
- Imipramine, venlafaxine, mirtazapine, fluoxetine and paroxetine medicines used for depression
- Medicines used to treat other mental health conditions
- Salbutamol medicine used to treat asthma
- Medicines which change the concentration of salts in the blood
- Medicines for malaria prevention and treatment
- Erythromycin and moxifloxacin used as antibiotic
How to Use
- Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
- Swallow whole with a glass of water
- Do not break or chew
- AXEPTA 40MG should be taken one or two times a day (morning and late afternoon or early evening)
If you take more AXEPTA 40MG
- If you take more AXEPTA 40MG, or if someone else has taken your medicine, talk to your doctor immediately
- Symptoms of over dosage are gastrointestinal symptoms, sleepiness, dizziness, tremor, and abnormal behavior
If you forget to take AXEPTA 40MG
- If you miss a dose, you should take it as soon as possible, but you should not take more than your total daily dose in any 24-hour period
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose
If you stop taking AXEPTA 40MG
- Do not stop taking AXEPTA 40MG without talking to your doctor
Side Effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them
Serious
- Dark urine
- Yellowing of skin and eyes
- Tummy pain which is sore when you press it (tenderness) on the right side just below your ribs
- Nausea
- Tiredness
- Itching
Common
- Headache, pain in the stomach
- Decreased appetite (not feeling hungry)
- Nausea or vomiting
- Increased blood pressure, heart rate (pulse)
- Being irritable or agitated
- Depression
- Feeling sad or hopeless, anxious
- Tremor, tingling or numbness in the hands or feet,
- Sleepiness, feeling tired, constipation, stomach ache, indigestion
- Pain on urinating, inflammation of the prostate gland (prostatitis)
Uncommon
- Feeling or having a very fast heartbeat, abnormal rhythms of the heart
- Thinking about or feeling like killing yourself
- Feeling aggressive
- Feeling unfriendly and angry (hostility)
- Mood swings or mood changes
- Serious allergic reaction with symptoms of swelling of the face and throat, difficulty breathing, hives (small raised, itchy patches of skin), seizures
- Psychotic symptoms such as hallucinations
- Thinking about or feeling like killing yourself
- Mood swings or mood changes, fainting, migraine
- Blurred vision, abnormal skin sensation, such as burning, prickling, itching
- Tingling or numbness in the hands or feet
- Restlessness, migraine, blurred vision, feeling cold in fingers and toes, chest pain, shortness of breath, raised red itchy rashes (hives), muscle spasms, abnormal or absence of orgasm- irregular menstruation, ejaculation failure
Rare
- Liver injury
- Pain on urinating
- Prolonged and painful erections
- Poor blood circulation which makes toes and fingers numb and pale (Raynaud’s disease)

Storage
- Keep out of reach of children
- Store at room temperature (15-25°C)
- Do not use this medicine after the expiry date
