What XPREZA 100MG is used for?

It is used in adults who are not able to have a stem cell transplantation to treat,

  • Higher-risk myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS)
  • Chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML)
  • Acute myeloid leukemia (AML)

 Warning & Precautions

Talk to Doctor

Talk to your doctor before you take this medicine, if you:

  • Are allergic or hypersensitive to azacitidine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • Have advanced liver cancer
  • Have decreased counts of platelets, red or white blood cells
  • Have liver, kidney disease
  • Have ever had a heart condition or heart attack or any history of lung disease

Pregnancy & Breast Feeding

  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine

Children & Adolescents

  • It is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below the age of 18

Driving & Using Machines

  • Do not drive or use any tools or machines if you experience side effects, such as tiredness

 Interactions
  • Tell your doctor about all the medicines you use, including prescription and non-prescription medicines and herbal supplements

 How to Use
  • XPREZA 100MG will be given to you as an injection under the skin (subcutaneously) by doctor or nurse
  • Inform your doctor immediately if you notice any signs of infection such as fever, sore throat, rash or severe diarrhea.

 Side Effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them

Common
  • Drowsiness, shaking, jaundice, abdominal bloating and easy bruising
  • Swelling of the legs and feet, back pain, reduced passing of water, increased thirst, rapid pulse, dizziness and nausea, vomiting or reduced appetite and feelings of confusion, restlessness or fatigue
  • Low levels of white blood cells
  • Chest pain or shortness of breath which may be accompanied with a fever
  • Blood in the stools due to bleeding in the stomach or gut or such as bleeding inside your head
  • Difficulty breathing, swelling of the lips, itching or rash
Uncommon
  • Reduced red blood count, feel tired and pale
  • Injection site reaction including redness, pain or a skin reaction
  • Joint and muscle aches
  • Red or purple spots under your skin
  • Pain in your belly (abdominal pain)
  • Sore nose and throat
  • Headache, anxiety
  • Having trouble sleeping (insomnia)
  • Nosebleeds (epistaxis)
  • Weight loss, hair loss
  • Low levels of potassium in your blood
  • Sepsis
  • Blood in your urine
  • Ulcers of your mouth or tongue
  • High or low blood pressure (hypertension or hypotension)
  • Dehydration
  • White coating covering tongue, inner cheeks and sometimes on the roof of your mouth, gums and tonsils (oral fungal infection)
  • A fall in blood pressure when standing (orthostatic hypotension)
  • Fluid around the lungs (pleural effusion)
Rare
  • Dry cough
  • Painless swelling in the fingertips (clubbing)
  • Tumor lysis syndrome
